Montreal, Thursday, June 9, 2011 - Hot on the heels of the success of Simple Plan’s francophone single, JetLag, recorded as a duet with Marie-Mai, the internationally renowned Montreal group invited the singer-songwriter to accompany them to Paris for a media promotional tour, and join them for a show in the City of Light!
They took the opportunity to visit the most important radio stations in France and deliver acoustic performances of JetLag, to the delight of fans. Marie-Mai last visited France in 2006, when she opened for Garou for two months, playing such legendary venues as the Zénith and the Bataclan. She made quite a splash, winning over the French with her debut album Inoxydable and winning the famed talent contest hosted by M6.
Over the past five years, many fans have avidly followed her career across the ocean and hoped for another visit! But with her career taking off in Quebec, Marie-Mai’s jam-packed schedule meant she simply couldn’t return!
Fans were therefore thrilled by this 3-day promotional tour, waiting for the artists in front of many of the radio stations and snapping up tickets for the Simple Plan concert at the Alhambra in Paris.
And they were not disappointed! Simple Plan literally brought the house down, and when they invited Marie-Mai to join them onstage, the energy and excitement went through the roof!
Marie-Mai will next return to visit our French cousins this summer, when she’ll join Simple Plan at the famed French festival Rock en Seine, on August 28.
On Friday, June 10, Montreal gets to celebrate under the stars when Marie-Mai performs at the FrancoFolies, on the Ford stage at 9 p.m.!
